GIVING FROM THE HEART...ONE DOLLAR A DAY

WHAT: EDUCATION is key to progress and development of a nation.  For which reason we invest in the education of our children and are willing to contribute towards scholarships. Now, there is scholarship, one slot each, in the autonomous Units of the University of the Philippines, from Baguio to Mindanao. Since it is generally a dream of every Filipino family that at least one member will graduate from UP, this now is a possibility. With Pres Pascual as Honorary Chair and the Chancellors’ designees making up Team One UP, the project moves to augment the fund now with UP Foundation Inc, in so doing, to increase scholarship slots in all of the UP System.

HOW: Two coffee table books, Memoirs of UP Alumni Abroad (2008) and Memories…a Legacy Gift (2012) boosted this fund which now has reached $158,000 in the UPFI, and has helped 24 students. Being an endowment fund, only the interest earned by the fund is used as awards. The coffee table books are replete with memoirs of alumni and friends, who with their tax-deductible contribution get their story published, free of editorial and cost of publishing, a one-time giving that lasts forever. Memories of UP Alumni United & Friends is scheduled for late 2015 publication.

WHY:  Everyone has a story to tell, gratitude to express. Our past is our legacy, our treasure to honor and share with our children, grandchildren and beyond.  The book becomes  heirloom of the family.  Moreover, it is not just self-serving, but a magnanimous gift towards helping others get a college education.  Your gift will continue giving beyond our lifetime to iskolars ng bayan.

WHEN:  The time is NOW…just send your pledge and begin setting aside the $1/day. Get a Manila envelop, label it GIVING from my HEART and each day insert $1 (PhP 13)…for the next 389 days.  Yes, it will take just a little over a year and your contribution will entitle you to be published PLUS have a copy of the book. Begin now, mark the envelop with your starting date.  If you start June 2014, then by beginning of July 2015 you are done. Manuscripts must be approved for publication no later that September 1st 2015.

AND NOW :  First, make your pledge by completing the form (below) and mail with your initial donation. You may want a copy of Book 2, we have a few copies left. Second,  upon receiving your pledge. you will get GUIDE to start drafting your memoir. You will be guided until your manuscript is ready for publication and your donation is completed. (PhP donation has separate instruction).
